Our Mission

To shine the light of awareness upon and to alleviate the devastating effects, both long and short term, that brothers and sisters experience due to having a sibling battling a health crisis.

2009

eamf is incorporated as a 501 (c)(3) organization to address the need that critically ill children had for haircuts while they were bed-ridden in the hospital.

2010

We launched Choose When 2 Lose at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles when we cut our first patient’s hair.  We also began our partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities in Hollywood.

2011

We brought Choose When 2 Lose to Kaiser Permanente on Sunset.

2012

We brought Choose When 2 Lose to UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital in Westwood.

We launched Shine On Siblings at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and at Ronald McDonald House Charities Los Angeles in response to the severe lack of place-based practical programming and services for siblings.

2013

We brought Choose When 2 Lose to UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital in Santa Monica.

We brought Shine On Siblings to UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital in Westwood.

2014

We brought Shine On Siblings to City of Hope in Duarte.

2015

We launched Star Sibling Program at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Choose When 2 Lose was discontinued, so that we could focus on siblings only and respond to the overwhelming demand from other pediatric hospitals, medical facilities, and treatment centers in the area to bring Shine On Siblings and the Star Sibling Program to their facilities.
